Focus on Prevention is requesting your partnership in the 2017 Point-in-Time Homeless Count. This is an effort mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to estimate the number of Americans without safe and stable housing, and is scheduled in our community for January 26, 2017. Point-in-time counts are important because they establish the dimensions of the problem of homelessness and help policymakers and program administrators track progress toward the goal of ending homelessness. Collecting data on homelessness and tracking progress can inform public opinion, increase public awareness, and attract resources that will lead to the eradication of the problem. Additionally, it continues to allow our community to receive federal funds to reduce homelessness. You can read a Modesto Bee article on the 2016 Point-in-Time Homeless Count by clicking here.
